BURTON PAVILION 2000 - PRESENT - MILFORD HEATH, SURREY

History

A pavilion has existed on the land known locally as Milford Heath for now approaching one hundred years.

The first pavilion was constructed from timber and was used by Milford Cricket Club.

During the passage of time the original timber pavilion building was replaced by a brick building which was used from approximately 1950 until it was demolished in 2000 to allow for the construction of the new modern 'Burton Pavilion' building which now provides a wonderful facility for the local community to use and enjoy.

The present building was officially opened in 2001 by the former Prime Minister the Rt. Hon John Major.

The Burton Pavilion is owned by Witley Parish Council but managed and maintained by the Burton Pavilion Management Committee and Witley Parish Council.

The first pavilion building as previously mentioned was used by Milford Cricket Club but since approximately the 1940's the use of the pavilion has been shared between the cricket club and the local football teams Milford Football Club (now Milford & Witley Football Club) and Milford Green Football Club (founded 1969).

Nowadays the pavilion is not just used for cricket and football purposes but is used for various community activities some of which are listed below: -
